Capitalism is not democracy

When corporate capitalists use the United States government by claiming to fight communist governments to spread democracy, they really are fighting communist economics in order to spread capitalism—often times at the expense of democracy both at home and abroad. The United States public tends to be confused about this issue because over time people in positions of power and wealth have used the media and educational systems to deliberately mesh capitalism and democracy together as being one and the same. Think of all the United States soldiers that have risked their lives or lost their lives thinking they were going to fight for democracy when in actuality they were going to fight for capitalism. The meshing and intertwining of economics and politics is intentional since one is far less likely to fight for, or have their son or daughter fight for, someone else’s wealth than they would the freedom that democracy is supposed to represent. Keep in mind that some of the leaders that the United States government has overthrown have been popular democratically elected leaders.

Social reality is continually negotiated through the interaction process. Whoever has the last successful anticipation is the one who controls the situation and thus controls how reality will be defined. Perhaps one of the greatest ironies of all time is that the general citizenry of the United States pays billions of dollars in tax revenues to the United States government which is then in turn used to carefully and systematically deceive that same general citizenry. Most people in the United States have no idea that they are being deceived with their own money by their own government. The failure of the Congress to do anything of consequence to the many criminals involved in the Iran-Contra crimes was partly due to the media victory won by the involved government agents. While there were times when they looked pretty bad during the investigative hearings, overall they made their “patriots against evil communism” version of reality stick. The government officials involved in the crimes controlled the situation and eventually funding for the Contras was even reinstated.
